Who We Are -- David Ward

David Ward is currently a consultant living in the Midwest region of the US.

For the previous four years, he was corporate head of performance management at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, a 60,000+ global pharmaceutical company based in Basel, Switzerland, where he was responsible for global performance management, including the implementation of an incentive-based pay-for-performance programfor the top 150 executives worldwide.

His prime achievement was developing a web-based performance management system for the senior executive population and then implementing it in Roche's European, Latin American and Asia Pacific affiliates for all levels of local management.

He was also responsible for talent attraction and retention of high potential employees, including MBA recruitment for scientific and business positions. In this regard he served as a corporate founder, sponsor, mentor and coach for UNITECH International, in a consortium of European engineering universities and multi-national companies set up to identify and develop business leaders of the future.

Before that he was an independent consultant running his own consultancy practice and was contracted primarily to Zurich Financial Services, a 70,000+ multi-national company, where he provided external support to several levels of management, reporting to the head of corporate development. His prime focus was to advise senior executives, including the chairman of the board, on key strategic decisions and to act as lead external adviser for the launch and implementation of key corporate initiatives, including corporate vision, capability development, and people management policy.

His previous key client was F. Hoffmann La-Roche, where he was
co-leader of a major change initiative to improve time-to-market of new medicines. In his role as coach, mentor and trainer for leaders and multi-national, multi-discipline international drug development teams, he developed and delivered cross-cultural and team dynamics skills and advised on internal and external communication strategies and practices.

He has also been a consultant to companies and multi-national corporations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the US, working
with more than 90 nationalities in 35 countries. Before becoming a consultant, he had a career in engineering, both in the commercial sector with
General Electric Company (Mechanical Handling) Ltd., where he was a senior project manager, and with the Royal Navy, where his formal engineering education led to leadership of teams of specialist technicians on-board several classes of warships.

He is an internationally recognized leadership mentor, management coach, human resources adviser and conference facilitator, as well as a respected trainer in performance management, change management, people management, executive communication, presentation skills and negotiation techniques.
